Gender and faith in Exodus: How men’s and women’s roles shape the radical swing in the Israelites’ behavior:

Last week, it was the Israelite men leading the way, as the people break the hot-off-the-presses Second Commandment and create an idol, the Golden Calf. In Parashat Vayak’hel this week, the Israelite women take the lead as the people donate so much precious metal and textiles for the Tabernacle that Moses has to order a halt to the gifts.
