Hadracha
Nafshenu’s Hadracha, (which means guidance in Hebrew), is our Jewish education program which engages our children from pre-k through 12th grade. Our goal is to instill in our children a love for Judaism and to provide for them an experience where they live their Judaism, rather than just simply study it. We want our children not to just know their history, but to feel that they are part of something beautiful and spiritual. Through their involvement in Nafshenu’s Hadracha, children will work to develop and be proud of their own Jewish identities.
Our programming will engage children in experiential Jewish learning, which serves to present Jewish learning in a meaningful and accessible way and at the same time, allows them to reflect and incorporate their Judaism into their own lives. We believe that by engaging students in this way, they become part of the learning process, part of the conversation, and therefore, an active part of the local and worldwide Jewish community.
These learning experiences have two branches. The goal of the first branch is to engage students in the following areas of Jewish studies: rituals and practice, Jewish history, Jewish heroes, Israel, and life cycle events. The goal of the second branch is the acquisition of the Hebrew language, beginning with conversational Hebrew and progressing into prayer Hebrew. Beginning with conversational Hebrew aligns with the developmental acquisition of language - beginning with oral communication and progressing into written communication.
